Probus is an organisation set up by Rotary International to advance intellectual and cultural interest among adult persons who have retired or semi-retired from their former occupations.

The word PROBUS is an abbreviation of the words PROfessional and BUSiness, which embraces any person who has had some measure of responsibility in the fields of Commerce, Industry, Education etc.

Probus Club of Blackburn Central Inc. sits under the umbrella of the Probus Centre - South Pacific Ltd. and is an affiliate of the Probus Association of Victoria Inc. and a member of Whitehorse Probus Clubs
(a grouping of the various Probus clubs in the City of Whitehorse area).

Probus Club of Blackburn Central Inc. was established as a men’s club in June 1989 and was opened to ladies in May, 1992.

Activities between meetings include lunch at a local hotel on meeting day, trips and tours and other outings, late breakfast at a local venue on the 1st Saturday of the month, theatre and cinema visits and the annual Christmas luncheon. These are just a few, the Club also have other activities which are listed under “Group” on our web page, that meet on a monthly basis.
